Five Dons Earn All-Conference Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco women's soccer team had five members earn all-conference accolades as announced by the West Coast Conference on Tuesday afternoon.   Junior Miciah Madison earned first team honors, fellow juniors Samantha Jehnings and Autumn Smithers earned second team honors, while Catherine Hill and Karley Weeks were named to the all-freshman team.

For Madison, this is her third all-conference honor, but the first time the Dons' forward has earned First Team All-West Coast Conference accolades.  Madison finished the year with 19 points on four goals and 11 assists.  The 11 assists are a new USF single-season record, breaking the old mark of 10 set by Jannik Abel in 1994.  The 11 assists were also eighth most in the NCAA at the end of the regular season.  Madison proved to be a matchup nightmare for the Dons' opponents this season.  Her speed and ability to sleep past the defense set up many of USF's scoring opportunities this fall.

Jehnings picks up her third all-conference honor.  For the second-consecutive year she has earned second team honors.  Jehnings had a wildly productive year.  The Dons forward finished the season with 23 points on 11 goals and one assist.  The 11 goals rank 41st in the nation, and is fourth all-time in a single season in USF history.  Jehnings becomes one of seven Dons all-time to score 10 or more goals in a single season.  Of her 11 goals this season, four were game winners which is tied for second most in a single season.  For her career, Jehnings now has 54 total points which ranks sixth all-time at USF, her 24 career goals rank fourth all-time.

Smithers was once again a workhorse for the Dons, she led USF in minutes for the second-consecutive year playing over 1800 minutes on the season. This is the second all-conference honor for Smithers who earned Honorable Mention accolades last season.  The Second Team-All-WCC Honoree set career-highs in shots (20), points (9), and goals (4).  In the win over Saint Mary's in the 2018 finale, Smithers notched her first career multi-goal game, scoring the first goal of the game on a PK and ended the game in overtime with a golden goal in the 91st minute.

Catherine Hill and Karley Weeks were two among a exciting core of freshmen who gained valuable experience for the Dons in 2018.  Hill helped man the back line and played in 1768 minutes, which was second most on the team.  Weeks, the speedy midfielder finished the year with six points on two goals and two assists, she scored the game-winning goal in the 2-1 win over Harvard on Aug. 26.

The Dons finished 2018 with an 11-7-2 overall record, including a 4-3-2 mark in the WCC.
