SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- In the second match of the spring season, the University of San Francisco women's tennis team faced the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos at the Recreation Center Court on Saturday afternoon.
"I felt like we played pretty well against a top flight team in our second match," said head coach Peter Bartlett. "We played a clinch/clinch format. Overall, I really felt our energy was good and we put in a good fight."
Amber Del Rosario and Alisha Sharma won one set in the first doubles competition against the Gauchos, before dropping the match 6-1. Shanna Dos Santos and Anna Sokiran were unable to win their doubles match as well.
By the time Emily Maxfield and Mya Bui's matchup was underway, the Gauchos had already won two out of the three matches so the match was declared undecided.
The Dons struggled in singles play as Rosario (6-1, 6-0) and Sharma (6-3, 6-0) dropped their matches. Sokiran had a strong set against her Gaucho opponent, but fell 6-4, 6-3.
