PROVO, Utah -- The University of San Francisco women's tennis team started WCC play with a match against BYU at the Indoor Tennis Courts on Friday afternoon, dropping the clinch format match 4-0.

"It was a very good match in pretty adverse conditions against BYU," said head coach
Peter Bartlett. "We still feel like we are getting better each match and will stay focused for the next opportunity in the next week."

BYU started with a 6-1 doubles wins over
Shanna Dos Santos and
Amber Del Rosario. Next up was the doubles pair of
Anna Sokiran and
Alexa Meyer who were beaten in the end, 6-0. With the doubles point clinched by BYU,
Emily Maxfield and
Mya Bui's match went unfinished at 4-2.

Bui had a strong first match to start singles play, putting up four set points, but ultimately fell 6-4, 6-0.
Margarita Treyes followed with a 6-0, 6-3 defeat in her matches, putting the Dons three points behind the Cougars.

Sokiran lost her first set 6-2, but came back in the second set to win 6-4 to earn a chance to add a point to her team's day. However, in the final set of the match, Â the match point went to BYU with Sokiran dropping her last set 6-2. The rest of the matches went unfinished with the Dons falling 4-0.
