WBB | Dons Announce One More Signee in Addition to Previous Five

SAN FRANCISCO – The University of San Francisco women's basketball team announced the signing of Amalie Langer to a national letter of intent. Langer, a product of Denmark, will be expected to arrive on the Hilltop in the fall.

She is a 2017 graduate of Rungsted Gymnasium in Denmark. Langer has been a leader player on the most winning Danish youth team in history, with three Danish National titles, four Danish Cup titles, and three Nordic Club Championships (Scania Cup), including four All-Star Team selections and two personal titles as Scania Queen (tournament MVP). Langer has also won two All-Star Team selections in the European Youth Basketball League and been in the in the starting lineup on the Danish National Youth Team since she was 14.

She has experience playing in the big leagues as well. She was a rookie in the senior women's league in Denmark in 2015 and continued to play on the squad until 2017. In the most recent season, her team (Hørsholm 79'ers) reached the finals.

She is the daughter of Katrine and Kim and has two older brothers. Her dad, Kim, was an East Coast Soccer Champion with the Potomac Kickers U-15 team in 1977. She also has a cat named Chili, who has the reputation of being a grump.

The signing of Langer marks the Dons sixth signee of the year. The previous five include Marta Galic (guard, Croatia), Marija Galic (forward, Croatia), Marianna Klavina (guard, Latvia), Abby Rathbun (forward, Washington) and Kia Vaalavirta (guard, Finland). As it stands now, the international contingency on the squad will outnumber the home grown athletes, nine to five.
