Stanford, Calif. – The University of San Francisco's men's and women's track and field teams head down to Stanford for the third time this season to compete in the Payton Jordan Invitational on Thursday, May 3.
Every year the Payton Jordan see's the top professionals and elite collegiate athletes compete, especially in the distance events and this year will be no different.
For the Dons, they will have a small, but impressive, group of student-athletes traveling to Stanford, which will include Jacob Allen, Marie Bouchard, Scott Halsted, Samantha Lind, Henry Mong and Hugh Nicklason.
Bouchard will be the top runner in the 3,000m steeple chase, the same event and location where she took second at the Stanford Invitational back in March. Her time of 9:47.03 was not only good enough for second-place against the reigning National Champion in the steeple chase, but it set the school record and was the fifth best time in the world in that event.
The trio of Halsted, Mong and Nicklason will take to the track to compete in the 1,500m. Similarly to Bouchard, Angell Track and Cobb Field has been a place for success for them, as they all set personal and seasonal bests in the 1,500m at the Cardinal Classic two weeks ago.
Beginning the day for USF will be Samantha Lind who will take to the track in the event she owns the school record in, which is the 400m. Lind will go into her heat with the goal of posting an NCAA qualifying time.
