MTN | Dons Welcome New Recruits to Roster

SAN FRANCISCO -- The University of San Francisco men's tennis team will welcome four incoming freshmen who have signed a national letter of intent to play for the Dons in the 2018-2019 season.

Nitzan Ricklis comes from Sunnyvale, Calif. where he played tennis at Homestead High School. Ricklis has a four star rating and is ranked as a top-90 national prospect. Ricklis also holds a top-five northern California junior ranking, top-15 in California.

Another California native is David Woodland from Stevenson Ranch, Calif. Woodland wrapped up his high school career at West Ranch High School, and has moved up 200 spots nationally, sitting comfortably in the top-20 Southern California rankings. Both Ricklis and Woodland are coming in with strong academic backgrounds, according to head coach Pablo Pires de Almeida.

The Dons will also welcome Romeo Mitdgaard Jivraj, who attended Falkonergardens Gymnasium og HF High School, all the way from Hedehusene, Denmark. Jivraj has competed internationally, and will come in with wins over top-200 and 150 International Tennis Federation world ranked junior players as well as professionally ranked players from the ITF circuit.

Phuc Huynh is among the incoming class, and the new Dons will join team veterans Ryan Marker and Paul Giraud this fall.

"I really want these new players to come together as a band of brothers and create a special bond that will encourage them to help each other achieve on as well as off the tennis courts at USF," Almeida said. "We are aiming higher and want all the players to compete with pride, and grit in every day practice and competitions.

"I already know that this class of players will bring energy, passion and a high standard to our team. They are all very motivated on and off the tennis courts to do well in college and compete at the highest level."
