MGOLF | Briggs And Widing Named All-WCC Preseason Team

SAN FRANCISCO — The West Coast Conference announced its preseason coach's poll today as two talented Dons, sophomore Toby Briggs and junior Tim Widing were named 2018-19 Men's Golf Preseason All-WCC Team as the University of San Francisco was selected third to finished this season, totaling 47 points.

Last season, Briggs was named WCC Freshman of the year and earned All-WCC Honorable team accolades. He tallied three top-10 finishes including a ninth place finish at the WCC Championships. Briggs posted a 72.3 stroke average which was second on the team, and tallied 10 round under par including a season-best-4-under 67 at the MacKenzie Invitational on Oct. 9. 

Widing earned his second career First Team All-West Coast Conference selection last season while playing in all 11 events for USF. In 29 rounds Widing finished with a 71.9 stroke average. He wrapped up the 2017-18 season at the NCAA Bryan Regional where he was the top finisher for the Dons as he was tied for 35th with a 6-over 222 (75-75-72). 

San Francisco was picked to finish third with 47 points, just a point over Saint Mary's College who has 46. Pepperdine is predicted to win the WCC Championship with eight first place votes and 64 points while BYU was placed second with one first place vote and 53 points.
