SAN FRANCISCO — In day two of the 10th annual Battle In The Bay Classic Tournament, the University of San Francisco tennis program recorded two wins in women's singles taking them to the semifinal round to highlight Saturday's play at the California Tennis Club.

San Francisco looked to carry the momentum with singles for the opportunity to advance to the final round of the Battle in the Bay, but each of their matches came up short. 

In women's singles, Emily Maxfield and Mya Bui defeated their opponents in the quarter final rounds. Maxfield faced USC's Constance Branstine and finished the match with a victory in straight sets, 8-3; 6-1. Bui also took down Fresno State's Jennifer Timotin, 6-3; 6-3. Hanna Borjeson fell to USC's Ana Neffa in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2 as Rita Colyer lost to Danielle Willson from USC, 6-3, 6-3. 

Maxfield and Bui returned back on the court for the semifinals, but lost to both USC members as Bui fell short in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2 to Ana Neffa and Maxfield battled to Danielle Willson and fell in close sets, 7-6 (2), 6-2.

Shanna Dos Santos and Colyer came up short in doubles to the mixed team of Pacific's Anneroos Nederstigt and USC's Danielle Willson, 8-4. 

MEN'S SINGLES CONSOLATION 
Nitzan Ricklis and Phuc Huynh were the only Dons to play in the consolation round, but lost in straight sets in 16s. TCU's Bertus Kruger beat Ricklis, 6-3, 6-2 and Huynh fell short to Michigan's Andrew Fenty, 6-2, 6-4. 

The finale of the 10th annual Battle in the Bay Classic will begin on Sunday at 9 a.m. All fans are welcome to attend the action at the California Tennis Club, but for those not in attendance follow all the day's action with a court side video livestream and a live scoring link.
