ROHNERT PARK, Calif. — The University of San Francisco's men's tennis team dominated in its first duel match of the season against Sonoma State, 6-1, Friday afternoon at Rohnert Park.
The Dons competed with high energy in singles play when all six Dons led with victories. The doubles duo
Nitzan Ricklis and
Oz Daniel were the only Dons to take down Somona's Igor Pissarenko and Josh Luu, 6-1.
It was the return of
Ryan Marker,
Paul Giraud, Ricklis,
Phuc Huynh,
Oz Daniel and
David Woodland who comfortably took down their opponents in straight sets. Marker defeated Nate Oppenheim, 6-7, 7-6 (3), Giraud saw a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Max Nudell, Ricklis had a key victory over Santiago Sarudiansky 6-0, 6-4 as Huynh took down Josh Luu 6-4, 6-1. Daniel won his first singles match against Igor Pissarenko 6-4, 7-5 as Woodland defeated Harry Cohen 6-4, 7-5.
