The Don of the Year award is presented to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to USF Athletics and its student-athletes. Kevin and Susan Hanley will be presented with this award at the Father Hubert "Hub" Flynn Hall of Fame Dinner on Friday, February 21st. Kevin and Susan met at the University of San Francisco, and both graduated in 1971. Kevin received his degree in Accounting and Susan's was in Government.
Kevin and Susan are longtime supporters of USF Athletics. They have been season ticket holders for the Men's basketball team since the 1971-72 season, following their graduation, and have been avid supporters and ticket holders for the Women's Basketball team since the early 80's. If a men's or women's basketball game is happening on the Hilltop or away, it is extremely likely the Hanleys will be present cheering on the Dons.
Kevin and Susan are former Green and Gold Club Board Members and current Athletic Director (AD) Circle Members. Along with being loyal USF Athletics supporters, Kevin and Susan are university citizens to the fullest, as Kevin served as the former President of the Alumni Board, and have helped with countless events and initiatives here on campus
"Kevin and Susan are true Dons!" said Director of Athletics, Joan McDermott. "They are more than just longtime basketball season ticket holders – they are always around and are so supportive of our entire department and everything we do. Kevin and Susan have always been very receptive to us as we have tried new things and moved USF Athletics into a new era. We wouldn't be here without them and individuals like them as we continue to grow."
USF's Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2020, which will comprise the 46th group of inductees, includes: Kyle Zimmer '12 (baseball), Joy Boyenga '92 (women's basketball), Jan Elberse '83 (men's soccer), Dior Lowhorn '10 (men's basketball), Dr. Geraldine Lauro will be admitted in a special category, and the 1963-64 and 1964-65 men's basketball teams will be inducted as one entry in the team category.
