SAN JOSE, Calif. — Despite
Mya Bui winning in straight-set singles in the No. 1 spot for the University of San Francisco, the Dons fell to San Jose State, 4-1, on Wednesday afternoon at the Spartan Tennis Complex.
The Spartans (4-0) got off to a quick 1-0 lead in doubles play after earning wins in the No. 1 and 2 spots.
In singles competition, Bui was victories for the Dons at No. 1 after defeating Spartans' Tamara Culbrk, 6-2, 6-4. Bui's 6-2 singles record is second-best on the team, right behind
Emily Maxfield who leads with a 7-0 record.
"Today the conditions were not ideal but we knew that going in. We battled and had opportunities up and down the lineup, but did not convert when the moments presented themselves for the match to swing in our favor," said assistant coach
Sean Dizon.
San Francisco (5-3) will take on Long Beach State at the Olympic Club on Friday. First serve is slated for 12 p.m.
