SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco women's golf team wrapped up its first spring tournament on Tuesday, capturing 13^th at The Bruin Wave Invitational at the San Luis Obispo Country Club. 
 
USF had two players in the top-50 led by freshman Annika Borrelli who finished tied for 36th.  Samantha Gong was tied for 50^th, followed by Joan Soewondo who was tied for 53^rd.  Jade Siphomsay was tied for 67^th while Pearl Rojanapeansatith took 72^nd.
 
"This was a learning experience for the Dons," said head coach Sara Doell. "The course was tough and the field was very strong. Though we didn't play our best, we learned a lot and know where we need to focus our time. We plan to regroup this week and start preparations for Entrada."
 
On the final round, Borrelli finished with an 8-over 81 giving her a three-day score of 231 (71-79-81).  She finished the tournament with 32 pars and five birdies. Gong was 10-over on the day to finish the tournament with a 19-over 235 (79-74-82).  She finished the tournament with seven birdies which was tied for eighth most in the entire field.
 
Soewondo finished with a 236 (79-77-80), Siphomsay had a 242 (82-83-77) her best round of the tournament, and Rojanapeansatith had a 245 (84-80-81). 
 
The course was brutal for the entire field, only two players finished under par on the final day and not a single player in the tournament finished under par after 54 holes.  Arizona State's Olivia Mehaffey took home individual honors at 4-over 220 (76-71-73).  No. 5 Stanford won the team title finishing with a 54-hole score of 895 (299-300-296). Only two teams shot under 300 today.
 
The Dons will return to action in two weeks when they travel to St. George, Utah to compete at the BYU at Entrada hosted by BYU at Entrada at Snow Canyon Golf Course starting Monday, March 11.
