More program records, season and personal bests fell Friday during the first day of competition this weekend for the San Francisco track team, which had its squad at two different meets – the Husky Classic at the University of Washington in Seattle and the Don Kirby Invitational at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, N.M.

SEATTLE — Chris Olley set a program record in the indoor 3,000 meters for the second straight competition Friday at the Husky Classic inside UW's Dempsey Indoor facility, cutting 0.25 seconds off of his time from two weeks ago on the exact same track.

Olley placed second in his heat with a USF record time of 7 minutes, 58.17 seconds. He finished 14th overall in the competition that had 56 finishers. Olley's time is currently a top-30 time in the nation, and is less than 10 seconds from the nation's top time of 7:48.32 run by Colorado's Joe Klecker on Jan. 31.

Dana Klein posted a big PR and ran the second-fastest indoor 3,000 in USF program history with a time of 9:12.89. Her time Friday was 15 seconds better than her previous personal best and earned her a second-place finish in her heat. She would place 16th overall in a field of over 70 runners.

Megan Davies ran a season-best 4:52.15 in the women's mile despite running a day earlier than planned with the meet condensed into one day due to heavy snow in the Seattle area. Davies grabbed a top-10 finish in the second-fastest heat of the day and placed 25th overall in the competition.

Josephine Brysting was also competing Friday at the prestigious Husky Classic. She ran in the 5,000 Friday, posting a time of 17:41.36 to finish 17th in her heat and 57th overall.

Really strong day in Seattle," said San Francisco head coach Pat McCurry. "Coach (Tim) Riley did a phenomenal job negotiating the chaos that the winter storm threw into the meet schedule. Dana and Chris with two really strong results again but certainly of note is Megan Davies' big season-best mark racing a full 24 hours before she expected to."

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Samantha Lind ran a season best and a personal best Friday while doubling in the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes on the first day of the University of New Mexico's Don Kirby Invitational at the Albuquerque Convention Center

Lind nearly won the 400 to start her double, winning her heat with a season-best time of 56.21 seconds. Knowledge Omovoh of Grand Canyon University narrowly edged Lind in the overall results with her time of 56.12.

Lind then came back later in the day and ran a personal best in the 200 at 25.54. Three other Dons also doubled in the 200 and 400. Julija Praprotnik broke the 60-second mark in the 400 at 59.30 and ran 26.16 in the 200. Hannah Esparza ran 1:00.34 in the 400 and 27.04 in the 200. And Faith Cardenas was right behind her in the 400 at 1:00.53 while also turning in a time of 26.95 in the 200.

Competition at the Don Kirby Invitational resumes Saturday. Fans can find live results links on USFDons.com.
