MGOLF | Dons Hosting Olympic Intercollegiate this Week

The University of San Francisco men's golf team will host the Olympic Intercollegiate this week. The Dons and 14 other teams will play 54 holes at the famed Lake Course at Olympic Club. This is the second of five spring tournaments for the Dons. USF is currently ranked 52nd in the latest Golfstat team rankings.
"It is always exciting to host a tournament on your home course," said head coach Jack Kennedy. "As we look to do in our full schedule, it is a great opportunity to compete on a major championship course. The Olympic Club membership and staff have been very generous to open their club to some of the best collegiate golfers in the country. We can't wait to tee it up on Monday.

Date/Time: 36 holes, Monday, Mar. 11 – 18 holes Tuesday, Mar. 12

The Course
The Olympic Intercollegiate will be a 54 whole tournament with shotgun starts starting both days. Round one will be a par-71, 6,942 yards, the second round will be 6,840 yards and the final round will be 6,891 yards. The Lake Course was once called "the best in the west" by famed champion Bobby Jones. With forest-lined fairways and spectacular views of San Francisco, the Lake course is one of the premiere courses in the U.S. The Lake Course has played host to countless tournaments and championships, including five U.S. Opens. The Olympic Club looks forward to hosting its first U.S. Women's Championship in 2021.
The Field
This 15-team field consists of six teams ranked in Golfstat's top-100, including No. 28 BYU, No. 31 Stanford, and No. 55 Nevada. The 52nd ranked Dons, making their return to the Olympic Club, will square off against Cal State Fullerton (79th), Pacific, Sacramento State, Cal State Monterey Bay, UC Davis (83rd), Cal Poly, Santa Clara, Loyola Marymount, Cal Baptist, Seattle U, and Dominican.
The Dons
The Dons lineup will remain unchanged after an eight place showing at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate two weeks ago. USF had two golfers finishing in the top-20 with Tim Widing and Toby Briggs taking 17th. Soren Lind finished 20th. Widing was recently named one of the top international golfers in the latest Arnold Palmer Cup rankings. Rounding out the Dons lineup this week will be Alex Chin and Christoffer Palsson. Matthew Anderson and Christopher Adnams will also compete as individuals.
