SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — The University of San Francisco's men's tennis team collected its second-straight win on Sunday afternoon, taking down Army 4-1 at the California Club.
The Dons topped the Black Nights from West Point after posting four singles victories and a strong doubles battle at No. 2 with
Phuc Huynh and Romeo Jivraj.
Although San Francisco fell in the No. 1 and 3 positions in doubles competition, Huynh and Jivraj was able capture a solid victory over Black Nights' David Mitchell and David Gorshein, 6-4.
With Army holding the advantage from the start, San Francisco bounced back when
Oz Daniel,
Nitzan Ricklis, Romeo Jivraj and
Paul Giraud tallied consecutive wins to seal the 4-1 victory. Daniel won quickly and certainly gave the Dons the energy that they deserved at No. 6, defeating Anant Mundra, 6-1, 6-3. Ricklis tallied the second point after dominating his opponent in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1 followed by Jivraj who battled hard to get past Grant Patterson, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 5. Giraud clinched the match in the No. 3 spot with a 7-5, 6-3 defeat over David Mitchell.
San Francisco will return back to the Cal Club to take on Fresno State at Noon.
