FOLSOM, Calif. — The University of San Francisco's beach volleyball team fell to San Jose State, 4-1, on Saturday afternoon at Livermore Park. The Dons picked up a straight-set victory from the No. 1 pairing of
Carly Lowry and Anna Dalla Vecchia.
The duo Lowry and Dalla Vecchia battled against Spartans' Caitlin Betteney and Tabea Schwartz and escaped with a solid, 21-19, 21-18 victory. Although, the Dons took an early 1-0 lead, San Jose State found its rhythm the rest of the way and collected consecutive wins in the final four pairings.
Camille Araujo and
Lena Bondar at No. 4 almost saw a three-set dual with Kaitlyn Zoroik and Thalina Grajeda. The Dons fought in the second set, 22-20, but unfortunately their match ran out of time in their attempt to extend the match to three sets.
"The Dons rallied around a makeshift lineup.
Carly Lowry and Anna Dalla Vecchia continue on their winning ways, grinding out a tough match win in the 1s. It was our first look at
Camille Araujo and
Lena Bondar at 4s," said head coach
Frank Lavrisha
San Francisco is now 7-7 and will head to Santa Cruz, Calif. to take on Santa Clara on Friday, March 29 at 11 a.m.
