BERKELEY, Calif. — The outdoor season kicked off in style Saturday for the San Francisco men's and women's track teams, highlighted by three event wins and a program record in the 800 meters for Sadi Henderson in her USF debut at California's Edwards Stadium.
 
WOMEN
 
Henderson won her first-ever race wearing the green and gold going away, posting a program record time of 2 minutes, 6.40 seconds. She beat her nearest competitor, Mina Anglero of Cal, but nearly three seconds. Her time should already be a strong indicator of her chances for qualifying for the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Championships West Regional. 2:06.40 was a top-30 time during the 2018 outdoor season.
 
Megan Davies gave the USF women two victories on the day after dominating the 3,000. She won her race by more than 17 seconds, shattering the 10-minute mark with a time of 9:50.32. Alena Ulrichova put two Dons in the top-three with a third-place finish in the race, running 10:07.92. Merel van der Marel (9th, 10:17.29), Josien Sheepens (11th, 10:24.75), Valerie Almanza (15th, 11:01.02) and Emma Stahr (18th, 11:13.33) also ran in the 3,000.
 
Julia Praprotnik dipped under the 60-seconds mark in the 400 with a time of 59.08 seconds, finishing fifth. Marli Bonney was the Dons' top sprinter in the 100, finishing 11th in 12.59 seconds.
 
MEN
 
On the men's side, Hugh Nicklason made it a 3,000 sweep for USF, winning his race in 8:28.35. He just edged out UC Davis' Jordy Ceja by eight-hundredths of a second for the victory. Scott Halsted was the second Don among the top-five in the men's 3,000, finishing fourth in 8:38.93.
 
Daniel Maneloveg broke the four-minute barrier in the 1,500 with a 10th-place finish in 3:59.35. Tawaab Emiola was USF's top men's sprinter, finishing seventh in the 100 with a time of 12.07.
