A program record, top all-time marks, personal bests and heat victories littered the Dons' day on Friday, as the University of San Francisco track team competed at two different prestigious Bay Area meets – the Mike Fanelli Track Classic at Chabot College and the Stanford Invitational at Stanford University.
HAYWARD, Calif. — A bevy of records – from program to personal – fell Friday for the Dons at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic, the new name for the San Francisco State Distance Carnival, held this season at Chabot College.
The quartet of
Sadi Henderson,
Alena Ulrichova,
Faith Cardenas and
Julija Praprotnik broke the program record for the 4 x 400 meter relay. The team ran the race in 3 minutes, 49.62 seconds, to finish third overall in the field.
San Francisco was also strong in the open 400 Friday.
Samantha Lind finished second among a field of more than 55 with a time of 56.45 seconds.
Hannah Esparza gave the Dons two among the top-20 and two under the 60-seconds mark with an 18th-place finish in 59.05 seconds.
Jacob Hernandez was a heat winner in the men's 5,000 Friday night. He outkicked Faisal Ibrahim of Alaska Anchorage to win the section in 15:18.29 and cut his personal record by 22 seconds.
