SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco's men's tennis team had two players named to the West Coast Conference All-Academic team as announced by the conference on Tuesday. Senior Ryan Marker and junior Paul Giraud earned Honorable Mention Accolades.
To qualify, a student-athlete must be of at least sophomore standing, own a minimum 3.20 grade point average while also being a significant contributor to her team.
Marker, an Entrepreneurship and Innovations major with a 3.38 cumulative GPA earns his second Honorable Mention award. He appeared in all matches this season and was third on the team with a 5-7 singles record. Marker's highlight of the season was against Pepperdine, when he clinched the match at the third set, 4-6, 6-3, 4-6, sealing the Dons 4-3 win.
For Giraud, this is his second time on the Honorable Mention list. He is a Business Administration major with a 3.42 cumulative GPA. The junior, made 18 of 19 appearances for the Dons and closed out the season with the team's second-best 7-7 singles record. He dominated singles wins against Portland, Saint Mary's, Pepperdine and San Diego State.
The Dons closed out the season with an overall 4-15 record and went 1-8 in conference.
