SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — The University of San Francisco's women's tennis team was defeated by No. 38 San Diego, 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Olympic Club.
The victory this afternoon has pushed San Diego's winning streak to 11. The Toreros are 13-2 overall and is undefeated (4-0) in WCC play as the Dons are 8-10 overall and 1-5 in conference.
"Today we played a good match against one of the top teams in the conference in USD. It was a very close doubles point at could have gone either way. Then in the singles portion USF collected the first sets in 3 of the singles. This match was a lot closer than the 4-0 tallied score," said head coach
Peter Bartlett. "This week we'll get some recovery and be ready for SCU next Saturday."
Doubles and singles play was in San Diego's favor throughout the entire match.
Margarita Treyes and
Hanna Borjeson fell to the Torerors team leading duo Kati Kukaras and Gemma Garcia, 6-3, followed by San Diego clinching the doubles point at No. 1 over
Emily Maxfield and
Mya Bui, 6-4. Singles competition played the same effect when the Toreros defeated
Mya Bui,
Rita Colyer and
Margarita Treyes in straight sets to demand its 4-0 victory.
USF wraps up its final home match of the season against Santa Clara at the Olympic Club on Saturday, April 13 at 1 p.m.
