BVB | Three Dons Named to All-WCC Teams

WCC RELEASE

SAN BRUNO, Calif. —
The University of San Francisco beach volleyball team's No. 1 pair of Anna Dalla Vecchia and Carly Lowry was named to the 2019 All-West Coast Conference Second Team and redshirt freshman Madelyn LaFollette earned all-freshmen honors as the conference announced its annual all-conference awards on Tuesday.

Dalla Vecchia and Lowry played as the Dons' No. 1 pair all season long. They went 2-2 at the WCC Championship on April 19-20 in Santa Monica. They pushed the No. 1 pair from defending champion and No. 5-ranked Pepperdine to three sets. Lowry and Dalla Vecchia also went 2-1 at the Sacramento State Tournament on March 15-16, including beating San Jose State for the second time this season. The duo beat Pac-12 member Utah's No. 1 pair in three sets on March 8, and capped the regular season with a sweep victory at the No. 1 pairs over Pacific.

LaFollette, in her first season competing with the Dons this spring after redshirting last year, was part of the Dons' No. 2 pair with Emily Zinger, a WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention honoree last week. The duo was competitive all season long against top-ranked teams, playing within three points in sets against Saint Mary's, Stanford and California.

No. 9/11 LMU took home two All-WCC honors and placed five on the First Team following its upset of three-time defending champion No. 6 Pepperdine in this year's WCC Beach Volleyball Championship double final. All told, four WCC programs were represented on this year's first and second teams with Saint Mary's and WCC champion LMU placing two student-athletes apiece on the All-Freshman team. LMU led the way with nine overall honors across the three teams, while Pepperdine and Saint Mary's collected six each. San Francisco collected three honors – two on the All-WCC Second Team squad and one All-Freshman selection.
