FINAL RESULTS

LOS ANGELES — The regular season wrapped up for the University of San Francisco track team on Saturday in Southern California at the Oxy Classic, with another school record in the 4x400 meter relay and plenty of other season-ending marks by the Dons to solidify their positioning in hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field West Preliminary meet at month's end.
 
The 4x400 relay squad of Samantha Lind, Alena Ulrichova, Faith Cardenas and Sadi Henderson set a program record yet again this season with a time of 3 minutes, 45.90 seconds. The team placed second overall behind crosstown neighbor Academy of Art, who narrowly won the event in 3:45.26.
 
Several USF freshmen closed out their rookie years with season bests. Maya Shaw was the Dons' top finisher in a 100 and 200 double. She finished 25th with a time of 12.46 seconds in the 100 and 17th in 25.46 in the 200. Marli Bonney also doubled, running 12.52 (28th) in the 100 and 26.61 (21st) in the 200. Hannah Esparza was also among the top-25 in the 200, placing 25th in 26.61.
 
Despite feeling under the weather, Samantha Lind still ran a strong time in the 400, grabbing a top-15 finish in 12th place with a time of 55.74 seconds. Henderson and Ulrichova also turned in strong 800 performances. Henderson finished 11th in 2:06.48, and Ulrichova was 15th in 2:09.82.
 
"Tough break for Sam Lind getting sick this week, but true to her character she still went out and competed with grit," said San Francisco head coach Pat McCurry. "She is leaving a strong legacy in our women's sprint group.
 
"Alena competed very strongly too, winning her heat of the 800 and anchoring the 4x400. We will find out in a few days if she gets to extend her season to regionals."
 
The 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field West Preliminary Meet will be held May 23-25 at Sacramento State's Hornet Stadium.
