SAN FRANCISCO – Director of Athletics
Joan McDermott is pleased to announce that the construction for the Sobrato Club in War Memorial Gymnasium at the Sobrato Center has officially commenced. The completion date for the Sobrato Club is slated for Summer of 2020. "USF Athletics is so thankful to
John and Susan Sobrato for their generous and historic gift of $15 million to us and making this particular project possible," McDermott remarked.
McDermott is also pleased to announce that War Memorial Gym will house four new video boards, to be installed by August of this year. The state-of-the-art Daktronics video boards will measure 12x20 and 9x16 feet and will sit in the four corners of the gym. These boards will create an enhanced experience for our fans, alumni, and friends who enter War Memorial, whether it be for a game or university event.
In addition to renovations inside War Memorial at the Sobrato Center, Malloy Pavilion continues to be a project moving forward within the overall capital facilities plan in the Campaign for USF.
"We are grateful to
Tom and Sharon Malloy for their early investment in the project and how their gift has been catalytic to giving for the university as a whole," said McDermott. "We are confident that Malloy Pavilion will provide a purposeful impact to our student athletes, specifically our basketball and volleyball teams, the entire student body, and community."
With lead gifts by the Malloy's and others, we are in the final stage of securing philanthropic funding for this project.
