SAN FRANCISCO – The University of San Francisco men's soccer program welcomes former MLS/USL athlete Sam Reynolds as the new assistant coach, head coach
Leonard Griffin announced on Tuesday.
"I am thrilled to welcome Sam and his family to the Hilltop! After an extensive search, Sam's leadership ability, commitment to USF, his experience in the game, and high character separated him from other candidates. He is a very passionate and driven coach who wholeheartedly believes in the holistic development of the student-athlete," said head coach
Leonard Griffin.
Reynolds, a former Professional Football Consultant (PROfc), spent eight years working as a professional soccer agent. Reynolds has a wealth of experience developing top-recruits from MLS to the top leagues around the world. He created top-client experience by working directly with recruits, scouts, players, general managers, owners, and sponsors while consulting on every player the agency signed. Most importantly, he has built essential relationships through contract negotiations and finding key players for new teams.
Originally from Fortuna, Calif. Reynolds was a four-time letter winner and Big West Honorable Mention honoree as a goalkeeper at Cal State Fullerton before embarking on five years of playing professional soccer. He began his career with the Portland Timbers and spent a year with Chivas USA, Toronto FC, Miami FC and Orlando City FC. He was known for his leadership, work ethic, and character on and off the field.
"I have no doubt that Sam will help our goalkeepers reach their full potential but he'll also be able to attract elite student-athletes who fit the program's mission, vision, and soccer culture," added Griffin.
Reynolds completes the men's soccer coaching staff for the Dons as he joins Griffin and new assistant coach
