FORT WORTH, Texas — Incoming transfer sophomore,
Mitch Johnson has qualified to compete in the 2019 Oracle ITA National Tournament at Texas Christian University from Aug. 9-13.

Johnson qualified for the Oracle ITA National Championships after a hard-fought summer, competing in the ITA Summer Circuit at 11 different sites throughout the country from June 22 until the last weekend of July. The ITA Summer Circuit is created to provide college players to compete in organized events year-round. In order to qualify for the Oracle ITA National Summer Championships, Johnson earned multiple victories in doubles competition pairing with University of Nebraska's Bradley Middleman. With Johnson's success in the ITA Summer Circuit led him to secure a spot in the national championships.
The singles and doubles champions will receive a wild card into the main draw of the ITA All-American Championships, and the finalists will earn a wild card into the qualifying draw (Players receiving wild cards must be returning, NCAA Division I student-athletes). The ITA All-American Championships are slated for Oct. 5-13 in Tulsa, Okla.
Johnson, a former athlete from Utah State recorded a 6-7 record in singles at the No. 6 spot. Prior to his freshman year, he was a four-star recruit and trained at the Gomez Academy in Florida. Johnson was national ranked (No. 207) and was the No. 2-ranked played in Colorado.
