SAN FRANCISCO – Philip Spiegel, graduate of St. Ignatius College Prep '90 and University of San Francisco '94, is this year's Jim Brovelli Award recipient for his outstanding loyalty, commitment, and dedication to USF's basketball programs.
Spiegel is a third-generation San Franciscan and if you spend much time in the City, you've probably met him. The Executive Vice President of the Clint Reilly Organization oversees iconic San Francisco institutions including the Julia Morgan Ballroom, the Merchants Exchange Club, Credo Restaurant and the Nob Hill Gazette. A graduate of USF's McLaren School of Business, Spiegel is a devoted and longtime season ticket holder and supporter of Dons' Athletics. As such, he served tirelessly on the Board of Directors for USF Green & Gold Club for many years.
"It gives me great pleasure to announce Phil as this year's Jim Brovelli Award recipient," said Director of Athletics,
Joan McDermott. "Phil personifies many of the qualities that Coach Brovelli stands for: he exhibits great humility, through his numerous contributions to the Athletics Department, USF, and the city of San Francisco, and he is passionate about the Dons. His voice is one of the loudest in the stadium at any of our basketball games."
When not sitting courtside at War Memorial, at the Sobrato Center or downtown, Spiegel works relentlessly to give back to the community. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Salesian Boys' and Girls' Club and is a longtime member of the Guardsmen, two organizations that specialize in supporting the community's youth. Spiegel is the embodiment of USF's philosophy of "Change the world from here."
Please join us in celebrating Phil Spiegel at the 5th Annual Tip-Off Gala, on October 4th at the Julia Morgan Ballroom.
