Charles Minlend was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week following a tremendous week in which the Dons went 2-0, beating two teams that were previously undefeated in conference play. With the wins, the Dons improved to 13-6 and are now 2-2 in WCC play.
For the week, Minlend averaged 22.0 points per game while shooting 52.2% from the field. From beyond the arc, Minlend was 5 for 8. He also had 11 rebounds, averaging 5.5 boards per game.
In the win over Santa Clara, Minlend finished with a career-high 25 points going 7 for 15 from the field and 9 for 11 from the charity stripe. He backed that up on Saturday by leading the Dons with 19 points in the win on the road at Pacific, where the Tigers had been 10-1. Minlend went 5 for 8 from the field and 3 for 4 from 3-point range in that contest.
For the season, Minlend is averaging 15.2 ppg and shooting 42.4% from the field. In WCC action, he is averaging 18.5 points per contest while shooting 46.9% from the field and a blistering 44.4% from beyond the arc.
