SAN FRANCISCO - The 2-1 University of San Francisco women's tennis team is on the road this weekend, they travel to Fresno, Calif., to take on Fresno State on Saturday. Â The match is slated for a 1:00 p.m. start time.Â
LAST TIME OUT
USF faced San Jose State last weekend at home and won 4-1.
The Doubles point went to the Dons with wins from both doubles pairs
Chiho Mushika and
Arianna Capogrosso (6-3), and
Amber Del Rosario and
Alicia Yue (6-3).
USF then extended its lead to 3-1 with wins from Mushika (6-4, 6-2) and Capogrosso (6-3, 6-3). Yue clinched the 4-1 match win for the Dons when she took down her opponent 6-0, 6-4. The rest of the singles went unfinished.
LAST TIME OUT VS. FRESNO STATE
The Dons and Bulldogs have faced each other three times with Fresno State holding a 3-0 record. The last contest between the two schools was last season (Feb. 10, 2019) and the Dons dropped a close 4-3 match.
The doubles point went to the Bulldogs, but the real battle took place in singles between the two schools where
Mya Bui won her match in straight sets (6-2, 6-0) followed by
Emily Maxfield's 6-1, 6-2 win. The match was tied up 2-2 when former Don
Shanna Dos Santos fell on her court.
After both the Dons and Bulldogs recorded another win each in singles, the match was again tied up at 3-3, but the match ultimately went to Fresno State after
Alexa Meyer fell in the tie breaker set (0-6, 6-4, 5-7).
This season, Fresno State holds a 2-3 record going into this weekend.

With her singles wins last week against San Jose State University, Mushika extended her singles winning record to 3-0:
- Against UC Santa Barbara (Jan.18): Mushika def. Shakhnoza Khatamova; 1-6, 6-3, 6-4
- Against Sacramento State (Feb. 1): Mushika def. Tsveti Yotova; 6-0, 6-4
- Against San Jose State (Feb. 6): Mushika def. Savannah Sendar; 6-4, 6-2
Since the Dons clinched the match against SJSU, Maxfield's singles match went unfinished, keeping her singles record to 2-0:
- Against UC Santa Barbara (Jan.18): Maxfield def. Dominika Paterova; 2-6, 6-2, 7-5
- Against Sacramento State (Feb. 1): Maxfield def. Jayden Nielsen; 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2)

The Dons will take a two-week break and will be on the road for a double header against University of Montana and Arizona in Tucson on Saturday, February 29.Â
Montana State's match is set for 9 a.m. PT followed by a noon PT first serve against Arizona.
