SAN FRANCISCO — In the latest edition of USF's new video feature "Inside Perspective," Charles Wollin sits down with current University of San Francisco women's basketball graduate transfer
Dolapo Balogun. The two discuss her move to San Francisco from her roots on the East Coast and undergrad in the Midwest, her leadership responsibilities this year with the Dons as a veteran player, and her interests and future in nutrition.
Â
The new video segment by
Katie Morgan, the Dons' Emmy award winning Director of Creative Video, with collaborative help from
Woo Nguyen, USF's Creative Media Specialist, is hosted by Charles Wollin.
Â
Each episode, Wollin will sit down with key members of the Dons' athletics family, including prominent members of the department, current student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and alumni, to discuss their lives in and around athletics outside the lines of competition.
Â
In this episode, we find out more about Balogun, a graduate transfer for the Dons this season out of Southeast Missouri State. Balogun is one of two graduate transfers on the team in 2019-20, providing leadership to a roster that has 14 players with no more than one year in Division I basketball. Balogun has transformed her game this year from being more of a power forward to being a ball distributer and a shooter. She's made 20 3-pointers this season after never making one in her three years playing at SEMO.
Â
Balogun, who hails from New Jersey, also talks about her interest in nutrition. She runs her own nutrition blog called, "
Girl Eats World," and she studied dietetics while at SEMO. She mentions the blog started as a class project and has become a passion of hers to write about a variety of things.
