FRESNO, Calif. - The University of San Francisco women's tennis team faced Fresno State on Saturday but came up short and fell 4-2.
"The Dons had opportunities across the board to put Fresno State away, but we give credit to our opponent for fighting back," said assistant coach
Sean Dizon. "We will learn from this experience and it will help us as the season progresses."
The Dons started the match by clinching the doubles point.
Rita Colyer and
Arianna Capogrosso won 6-1 on their court followed by a 6-3 win from
Chiho Mushika and
Alicia Yue. USF also had a win from doubles pair

Mushika gave her team a 2-0 lead when she won 6-3, 6-0 on her court to start singles, but the Dons couldn't continue the momentum and fell on courts one, two and six. Colyer put up a fight on her court, bringing her match all the way to a third set, but ultimately fell 6-2, 5-7, 0-6, and the Bulldogs clinched the win over the Dons.
