SAN FRANCISCO - The University of San Francisco women's tennis team will head to Tucson, Ariz., for a doubleheader against the University of Montana and host Arizona on Saturday. The match against Montana is set to begin at 9 a.m. followed by Arizona's match at noon.
"The Dons are looking to get back on track this weekend against our opponents," said assistant head coach
Sean Dizon. "The Dons have been working hard in practice and now we want to put it all together in our matches."
LAST TIME OUT
The Dons came up short against Fresno State on Feb. 15. The Bulldogs won the match, 4-2, and USF is now 2-2 on the season.
USF was able to clinch the doubles point when the duos of
Rita Colyer and
Arianna Capogrosso (6-1), and
Chiho Mushika and
Alicia Yue (6-3) won on their courts. Even though the Dons had already won the doubles points,
Emily Maxfield and
Mya Bui also won their doubles match.
The Dons were up 2-0 after a 6-3, 6-0 win from Mushika, but the Dons couldn't keep up their momentum and it ended in a 4-2 loss.
SERIES VS. MONTANA
In the series between the two schools, USF has a 2-0 record against Montana. The last contest happened in 2013 when the Dons topped the Grizzlies 5-2.
Going into this weekend, Montana has a 1-6 overall record.
SERIES VS. ARIZONA
In 2014, USF and Arizona faced off in Tucson where the Wildcats secured a 6-1 win over the Dons, putting the series record at 1-0.
USF's only point of the match came from Thyra Taune (6-4, 6-4), but the Dons eventually succumbed to the Wildcats.
Arizona is currently 5-5 on the season.

- Against San Jose State (Feb. 6): Mushika def. Savannah Sendar; 6-4, 6-2
- Against Fresno State (Feb. 15): Mushika def. Carlotta Nonnis Marzano; 6-3, 6-0
UP NEXT
The Dons will be at the Olympic Club on March 6 for a match against Nevada. Time is set for noon.
