SAN FRANCISCO - The University of San Francisco women's tennis team faced San Jose State University today at the Olympic Club and the Dons won 4-1.
"Today, the Dons played a very efficient match," said head coach Peter Bartlett. "SJSU is always a tough regional opponent for us, but the Dons did a great job with their energy and nerves."Â
USF grabbed the doubles point early on with 6-3 wins from both doubles pairs
Chiho Mushika and
Arianna Capogrosso, and
Amber Del Rosario and
Alicia Yue.
Mya Bui and
Emily Maxfield's match went unfinished at 5-4.
SJSU was able to tie up the score 1-1, snagging a singles win over
Alexa Meyer, but the Dons regained a 3-1 lead with wins from Mushika (6-4, 6-2) and Capogrosso (6-3, 6-3). Yue defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-4, clinching the 4-1 win for the Dons. The rest of the singles went unfinished.
