SAN FRANCISCO - It was another victory for the University of San Francisco men's tennis team today. The Dons were able to finish the day with a 4-1 win over UC Irvine and bring their overall record to 3-3.
"Overall, today was the best all-around performance from the Dons," said head coach
Pablo Pires de Almeida. "They were focused and positive from the warmup to the last point played. Hats off to UC Irvine and its coaches for battling until the end."
The Dons came up with wins on all three courts during doubles and went into singles with a 1-0 lead.Â
UC Irvine was able to tie up the score 1-1 with a win on court No. 4, but the Dons came back with wins on the rest of the courts.
Phuc Huynh started with a 6-2, 6-3 win followed by a 6-2, 6-4 win from
Paul Giraud. With USF already up 3-1,
Ori Maior clinched the 4-1 victory for the Dons with a 7-6, 6-2 win on his court and the rest of the matches went unfinished.
