SEATTLE – The University of San Francisco track team turned in a number of solid performances this weekend at the 2020 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Track and Field Championships at the University of Washington's Dempsey Indoor facility.
Â
"This weekend provided great big-meet experience for our young women that will pay dividends outdoors and down the road," said USF Director of Track & Field and Cross Country
Pat McCurry.
Â
The Dons had a large group execute and perform well in the 3,000 meters. Three Dons broke the 10-minute mark, led by
Aoibhe Richardson's fourth-place finish in 9 minutes, 22.93 seconds.
Anna Tait had a top-20 finish in 9:41.50, 13 seconds faster than her time two weeks go on the same track. MacKenzie Yanek finished 40th in 9:56.91.
Â
"The 3k girls really executed nicely, especially
Anna Tait," said McCurry. "I was happy with the way our DMR competed in a really deep field, and particularly impressed with Julia (Morales)'s 800 leg."
Â
The Dons placed eighth in the distance medley relay in a field that featured Oregon – who broke 11 minutes and won the event by more than 16 seconds – and BYU, whom the Dons beat by more than three seconds, as well as seven other squads from Pac-12 Conference schools.
Abby Pradere,
Faith Cardenas,
Julia Morales and Richardson teamed up for the Dons' solid performance in that distance medley.
Â
Evelyn How wrapped up her first collegiate indoor track season with a 60/200 double, finishing 25th in the 60 (7.73) and 41st in the 200 (25.86).
Rayne Anwar pulled the same double, finishing 39th in the 60 (7.96) and 34th in the 200 (25.67).
Â
Richardson awaits her fate for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships after she turned in the No. 16 time in the country in the indoor 5,000 two weeks ago in Seattle. Follow USF track and cross country on Twitter and Instagram at @DonsXCTF for updates.
