Dons From Distance | Catching up With Women’s Golf Hall of Famer Jessica Potter

During an interesting time with interesting circumstances, USFDons.com is reaching out to student-athletes and having them tell their unique stories. Led by award-winning USF Director of Creative Video Katie Morgan, live remote video interviews with the USF Athletics family will become part of USF's new series called "Dons from Distance."

SAN FRANCISCO – In the latest edition of Dons from Distance, Director of Creative Video Katie Morgan checks in with USF Hall of Famer and Doctor of Podiatric Medicine, Jessica Potter '08.  The two discuss a variety of topics, including her decision to become an orthopedic surgeon over pursing a professional career.

The video begins with Morgan introducing Potter. The three-time First Team All-WCC Honoree was an Honorable Mention to the West Coast Conference's 25th Anniversary Team. However, Potter mentions that it was one tournament victory that led to her breakout season in 2008. In 2006 she won the Women's Canadian Amateur Championship, which allowed her to play on the Canadian National Team, and competed in the LPGA's Canadian Open. She carried the momentum from her summer tournaments back with her to the Hilltop, where she helped lead the Dons to three third place finishes in the WCC Championships.

Following her senior season in 2008, Potter made the difficult decision to turn down an opportunity to earn her LPGA tour card and focused on her other passion, medicine. Potter is now a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco.

She goes on to discuss how her induction into the Hall of Fame brought her back to the program when current head coach Sara Doell reached out and her speak with the team.
