
WGOLF | Five Dons Earn WCC All-Academic Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The University of San Francisco women's golf team had five members take home West Coast Conference All-Academic honors this spring, as announced by the conference office on Thursday. Annika Borrelli, Samantha Gong, and Pearl Rojanapeansatith were named to the All-Academic Team, while Jade Siphomsay and Joan Soewondo were named to the Honorable Mention team.
To be considered for the team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, a significant contributor to her team, and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20.
Spring 2020 is the second time Gong and Rojanapeansatith have been named to the All-Academic team. Gong, a Kinesiology major, finished her career with a 3.42 cumulative GPA. She finished her career with two top-10 finishes, taking fourth at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational and sixth at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown.
Rojanapeansatith boasts a 3.95 GPA and is majoring in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. She finished with the year with two-10 finishes and was USF's top finisher twice. She averaged a 75.3 stroke average and tallied 36 birdies in 19 rounds. Rojanapeansatith's top finish came at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic, where she took fourth. Her other top-10 finish came at the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club, where she took eighth.
Borelli, a sophomore, garnered recognition during her first year of eligibility. The Bay Area native boasts a 3.75 cumulative GPA. In 2019-20, she led the Dons with a 74.4 stroke average and recorded two top-10 finishes, including a third place finish at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic. She boasted five rounds at par or better and led the Dons with 44 birdies; she was USF's top finisher in three of the seven tournaments this season.
Soewondo earns all-academic honors for the second time in her career, taking home Honorable Mention accolades. The Accounting and Marketing double major sports a 3.64 GPA. In her junior campaign she competed in five tournaments. Her top finish was a tie at 46th at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational.
Siphomsay also earned Honorable Mention honors in her first year eligible. Undeclared with an emphasis on Business, Siphomsay boasts a 3.75 GPA. She appeared in six events for the Dons in 2019-20, finishing with a stroke average of 75.9. Her top finish was a tie for 12th at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic.
