TEMPE, Ariz. – The University of San Francisco men's tennis team had five athletes earn Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) scholar-athlete honors, while the program earned All-Academic honors as announced by the ITA on Monday.
The Dons finished the 2020 year with a team grade point average of 3.58. Seven members of the Dons team finished with a 3.5 or higher this spring, and four student-athletes finished with a 4.0.
Earning scholar-athlete honors was
Johan Garpered,
Paul Giraud, Phuc Hyunh,
Nitzan Ricklis, and
David Woodland. Hyunh, Ricklis, and Woodland took home ITA scholar-athlete honors last year as well.
All-Academic teams collectively boast a GPA of 3.20 or higher. In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale) for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present institution for at least two semesters.
