Tuesday Testimonials | Julie Congi

SAN FRANCISCO – Members of the University of San Francisco family and fans who have frequented the Hilltop in the last 36 years will recognize the infectious laugh of Julie Congi, who most recently served as the Athletics Events Coordinator. In this week's edition of Tuesday Testimonials, USF Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director, Frank Allocco, sits down with Congi to talk about her nearly four decades of service on the Hilltop.

Congi starts the conversation by detailing her first exposure to San Francisco, having moved to the west coast form South Florida at age 23, and how that led to her applying for a job in USF's Department of Education. She was hired in 1984, and spent 6 years in Education before moving to Student Life and eventually settling in Athletics.

She and Allocco delve into Congi's memories working for USF Athletics, ranging from collaborating with Hall of Famer Pete Rozelle to help fund the Green and Gold Club with Super Bowl tickets to serving as a Marshall of the US Open at the Olympic Club to organizing various events at USF, including the jersey retirement of men's basketball Hall of Fame member Ollie Johnson.

Congi concludes the interview by sharing why she has stayed at USF for nearly four decades and by divulging her favorite stories from her time in the Athletics department.
