STANFORD, Calif. -- It was a busy weekend back in action for the USF Dons women's tennis team as they competed at the 2022 ITA Northwest Regional Championship hosted by Stanford University. The women's regionals took place over a five day period starting with a field of 128 student-athletes competing in singles as well as 64 doubles pairing in the draws.

The Dons were able to get off to a fast start in singles by winning three of their first four matches as a team on Thursday, and the remaining USF singles players followed suit on Friday by winning four of their first six matches. 

Competing against the top competition for the Northwestern United States, the Dons received a few tremendous performances including from Maria Martinez Vaquero in singles as she reached the quarterfinal round by winning her first two matches. On the doubles side, the pairing of Simran Chhabra and Qianer Qiu won their first doubles match on Friday to advance to the second round on Saturday.

The Dons will be back in two weeks as they will prepare to compete in a pair of tournaments to wrap up the month of October as they will compete in both the Jack Kramer Cup Tournament and the Saint Mary's Invite over the October 28 weekend.
