SEATTLE, Wash. -- Following his tremendous performance at the ITA West Super Regionals in Berkeley, Dons' junior Nil Giraldez is on his way to the Pacific Northwest as he prepares to compete at the 2022 ITA Northwest Super Regionals hosted by the University of Washington.
It was a tremendous tournament for Giraldez out in the East Bay as he began his event by defeating Nevada's Sasha Nicolau in two sets in the round of 64. Nil was able to keep the momentum rolling as he dispatched of UC Davis' Lucas Bollinger in two sets to reach the regionals round of 16.
Punching his ticket to Seattle, Giraldez returned to the courts at the Hellman Tennis Center and was able to best Nevada's Matheo Coupu in two sets to reach the next round to face the best competition from throughout the Western United States.
Now Giraldez turns his attention to facing off with Stanford's Nishesh Basavareddy on Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. from Seattle. Should Giraldez knock of Basavareddy he will advance to the round of 16 and would compete at 12:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
Giraldez also competed in doubles where he teamed up with Johan Garpered as the duo won their first match defeating a team from UC Davis before coming up short against a Nevada pairing in the second round.
