SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- The West Coast Conference announced on Monday morning that USF freshman libero Abby Wadas was named the WCC's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week following her tremendous week on the road as the Dons earned an impressive road sweep over LMU and Pepperdine.

Wadas, a native of McKinney, Texas has been a bright spot for USF in their resurgent season and last week in Los Angeles was no different. Beginning her week against the Lions, Wadas led the way by recording team-highs with 13 digs and three service aces to help the Dons defeat LMU in four sets last Thursday. Less than 48 hours later, Wadas accumulated 19 digs, eight assists and a service ace as the Dons upset perennial powerhouse Pepperdine in a five set thriller.

USF's freshman libero is the first Don to receive a volleyball player of the week award this season and she currently ranks third in the WCC in total digs with 332 and digs per set at 3.73.

The Dons return home this week riding a six-match conference winning streak as they will host the #17 BYU Cougars on Thursday, Nov. 3 at 7:00 p.m. and will follow that up by welcoming the #3 San Diego Toreros to War Memorial at the Sobrato Center on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 1:00 p.m. To purchase tickets for either match, please click here.
