SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Competing in the Gunrock Invitational for the second straight year, the University of San Francisco women's golf team placed fifth overall as a team at Del Paso Country Club this week, including freshman
Riana Mission placing third overall individually for the Dons.
TOURNAMENT RESULTS:
- Impressing in her first year on the Hilltop, Mission recorded her highest finish as a Don yet as she tallied a three-round total of 11-under 205. Overall, this performance marked the third time this season in which the freshman has finished in the top ten as well as her fourth time in the top twelve.
- Placing as the second highest individual for USF, Toni St John logged her best finish of the year with a 2-over-218 to rank 30th overall.
- Rounding out the lineup, Annika Borrelli tied for 39th overall with a 5-over-221, Jade Siphomsay finished 7-over 223 to tie for 45th and Hannah Zeman shot a 12-over-228 to tie for 55th overall.
- Notably, Toni Sottile tied for 62th overall with a 19-over-235 while Lisa Marie Rudometkin tied for 64th overall with a 23-over-239, however, neither score counted towards the group total as both student-athletes competed individually.
- Heating up as the year continues, the Dons placed in the top five as team for the fourth consecutive tournament, dating back to the Ron Moore Intercollegiate from Oct. 8-10, 2021.
CATCHING UP WITH COACH DOELL:
"The team followed up our first win of the season with a very solid tournament in one of the strongest fields we have seen so far this year. To say that I am proud of Riana and her incredible play is an understatement... She finished with five birdies coming in to shoot 67- her lowest collegiate round to date. I am excited to see how the team continues down this path as we head into the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club next week."
UP NEXT:
USF will return to the Bay Area to host their annual Juli Inkster Invitational on Monday, Mar. 7 and Tuesday, Mar. 8, which will take place at Meadow Club in Fairfax. Live results of the tournament will be available via the team's schedule page.
