Dons Continue Fall Campaign with Strong Showings in Washington

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. --Â The University of San Francisco women's golf team continued its fall schedule with back-to-back tournaments in Washington, competing across six rounds at the Leadership and Golf Invitational and Kalispel Invitational.
San Francisco opened the season at the Leadership and Golf Invitational at Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Wash., finishing 12th in the 17-team field with a 32-over-par 896.
Melia Gustavson paced the Dons throughout the two-day event, tying for 23rd out of 92 competitors with a five-over-par 221 (77-71-73) to earn the second top-25 finish of her career. Gustavson highlighted the tournament with a one-under-par 71 in the second round, recording three of her seven total birdies during the round.
Erica Villegas made one of San Francisco's biggest moves on the leaderboard, climbing 13 spots during the final round to finish tied for 33rd at eight-over-par 224 (75-75-74). Jillian Leh joined Villegas in a tie for 33rd while leading the Dons with 11 birdies, the most she has recorded in a single tournament in her career.
Making her collegiate debut, Emily Guan finished tied for 55th with an 11-over-par 227 (73-79-75). Rodaylin Minarounded out San Francisco's lineup, finishing 87th at 31-over-par 247 (85-82-80).
As a team, the Dons recorded rounds of 302, 298 and 296, producing their lowest team score of the tournament in the final round.
San Francisco returned to the Pacific Northwest the following week for the Kalispel Invitational at Kalispel Golf Club in Spokane, Wash., where the Dons finished fifth in the 14-team field with a 24-over-par 888.
After opening the tournament with a 15-over-par 303, San Francisco followed with a seven-over-par 295 in the second round before closing with a two-over-par 290 in the final round to move up two spots on the team leaderboard.
Gustavson once again led San Francisco individually, earning a T-8th finish at one-over-par 217 (72-72-73). She opened the tournament with back-to-back even-par rounds before closing with a one-over 73.
Villegas made the biggest final-round move for the Dons, climbing 20 spots on the individual leaderboard after firing a two-under-par 70 to finish T-20th at six-over-par 222 (77-75-70). Her final-round 70 marked the lowest individual round by a Don across the two-tournament stretch.
Leh finished T-28th at eight-over-par 224 (77-74-73), closing the tournament with a one-over 73. Guan earned a T-41st finish at 12-over-par 228 (80-74-74) after recording matching two-over 74s in the final two rounds.
Romina Aguirre rounded out San Francisco's lineup, finishing T-55th at 16-over-par 232 (77-77-78).

San Francisco now turns its attention to the Marilyn Smith Sunflower Invitational, hosted by Kansas at Lawrence Country Club in Lawrence, Kan.
The Dons begin competition on Monday, Oct. 5, before concluding the two-day tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 6.
