OJAI, Calif. -- Opening up postseason play in a strong fashion, the fifth-seeded USF Dons women's tennis team (12-10, 4-5) came out victorious after an epic matchup against the fourth-seeded BYU Cougars winning 4-3 in the first round of the WCC Conference Championships at the Weil Courts in Southern California. 

BYU got off to a strong start during Friday's matches as they were able to take the doubles point but the Dons were able to respond by receiving individual victories from Caragh Courtney, Rita Colyer, Mya Bui and Hana Gamracy to secure the remaining four USF points to clinch the victory to advance to the semifinals.

Both teams were tied at three points with Bui battling hard in her singles match and was able to pull out the 6-4 victory and help the Dons move on to play Saturday afternoon.

UP NEXT:
The Dons now move on to the semifinals of the WCC Championships taking on the one-seeded Pepperdine Waves at 10:00 a.m. Friday morning at Weil Courts. Both programs played each other earlier this season with the Waves winning 4-0 in San Francisco.
