SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Head coach Sara Doell and the University of San Francisco women's golf program are proud to announce their final commit for the 2022 class: Yvonne Shang of Singapore.
"We are very excited to have Yvonne join us on the hilltop this fall," said Doell. "She had a successful freshman year at Fresno State and I look forward to guiding her into the next chapter of her college athletics experience!"
Appearing in nine tournaments as a true freshman at Fresno State last year, the Spingapore native had four top 25 finishes in her first year of collegiate golf as she averaged 77.41 in 27.0 rounds played in 2021-22. Notably, she tallied the best finish of her young career with a T5th finish at The Clash at Boulder Creek from Oct. 24-26, 2021, shooting 2-over-par 218 (77-75-66). In addition to being the team's lowest scorer at The Clash at Boulder Creek, Shang also shot a 12-over-228 (76-78-74) in her first collegiate tournament to lead Fresno State at The Molly Intercollegiate on Sept. 27 + 28, 2021. Piecing together an impressive freshman year, she also had a career-low 66 in the third round of The Clash at Boulder Creek, which was good for the lowest round by any Bulldog in 2021-22. Overall, her two eagles on the year also tied for the third most in a single season in program history.
Prior to her stop at Fresno State, Shang attended CHIJ Katong Convent in Singapore, where she received the Ministry of Education Edusave Award for Achievement Good Leadership and Service Award in 2018 and 2019 and the Singapore Schools Sports Council Colours Award in 2019.
Born to Le Ping Shang and Yan Xia Wang, Yvonne has one sibling- Ji.
