SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- The West Coast Conference announced on Thursday afternoon that the USF Dons women's tennis team was picked to finish fourth in the conference this season, following the team's appearance in the WCC Championships semifinals.
USF returns a veteran roster led by graduate student
Rita Colyer and junior
Maria Martinez Vaquero, who were picked to last season's All-WCC doubles second team due to their strong tandem that helped the Dons finish 8-2 in their home matches last season.
Martinez Vaquero was also picked to the All-WCC singles second team as the number one player in the USF lineup for the majority of the season.
Other returning student-athletes to the squad include: graduate students
Arianna Capogrosso and
Caragh Courtney, sophomores
Simran Chhabra,
Hana Gamracy and Qianer Qui as well as seniors
Azaria Hayes,
Chiho Mushika and
Alicia Yue.
The Dons will open up the 2023 spring season across the Bay Bridge in Berkeley for the 2023 Cal Winter Invite spanning the weekend of January 13-15, with the team's first matches in San Francisco coming in late February when they host UC Davis at 2:00 p.m. on February 25.
