PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – Beginning the semester with an impressive performance, the University of San Francisco men's golf team went undefeated at the Wyoming World Match Play Championship in Palm Springs on Friday and Saturday as the Dons took down Boise State and Wyoming.
 
TOURNAMENT RESULTS:

• Competing in a unique format with a field of eight teams, the Dons faced off against Boise State in the quarterfinal round as USF took down Boise State 5-1:  Matthew Anderson (3-&2) over Max Charles, Ben Partridge (7&6) over Cole Rueck, Jackson Rothwell (2&3) over Will O'Connor, Gavyn Knight (1&2) over Harry Brown, Jakob Melin (3&4) over Drew Reinke and Renato Naula (1&4) over Nick Hedman.
• In the semifinal round, USf squared off against WCC foe San Diego as the two teams ended in a no contest as the match could not be completed before darkness. Ovrall, three matches were still on the course.
• On Saturday, the Dons tied Wyoming 3-3, but USF then won on a tiebreaker based on most holes won during the match: Matthew Anderson (7&6) over Kirby Coe-Kirkham, Jaren Calkins (1UP) over Ben Partridge, Jackson Rothwell (3&2) over Cade McLaughlin,  Patrick Azevedo (2UP) over Harry Brown, Jakob Melin (2&1) over  Jimmy Dales and Renato Naula over Kristof Panke (2&1). 

CATCHING UP WITH COACK KENNEDY:
"This was a nice week to get the spring started. Match play is obviously a different animal compared to Stroke play. I thought our guys really competed all week and the results speak for themselves. We are excited to get back down here next week at the Prestige."
 
UP NEXT:
USF will return to the area next week when they compete in The Prestige (hosted by UC Davis and Stanford) at Greg Norman Course at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif. from Monday, Feb. 20 through Wednesday, Feb. 22.
