SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Returning to action riding some momentum, the USF Dons women's tennis team picked up a nice team victory on Saturday afternoon as they bested the UC Davis Aggies by a 4-3 final score at the California Tennis Club.
Competing in a dual match format, the Dons got off to a quick start by winning the team doubles point as the pairings of
Chiho Mushika and
Arianna Capogrosso as well as
Azaria Hayes and
Maria Martinez Vaquero emerged victorious in the City by the Bay.
Battling in six hardly contested singles matches with the Aggies, both teams were able to come away with three wins in the format as Martinez Vaquero,
Caragh Courtney and Hayes each picked up singles victories to help the Dons clinch the one-point victory back at home.

CATCHING UP WITH COACH BARTLETT:
"We had a real close battle to get the 4-3 win over UC Davis. It came down to the last match and
Maria Martinez Vaquero again closed the match out by winning 7-5 in the final set. Winning the doubles point again proved to be a huge momentum boost for us and obviously a difference maker in the match.
Caragh Courtney got her first win of the season and
Azaria Hayes had a big win in the sixth position. It's a good win for us because we're not completely healthy and we did this with a few players out of the lineup. A solid victory against a good opponent we tend to play close before we play BYU in our first conference match on Friday.
