SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Dealing with several rain delays, high winds and cold temperatures, the University of San Francisco women's golf team was only able to complete one full round at The Causeway Invitational this week as weather conditions halted play on both Monday and Tuesday.
Overall, teams were able to complete their first 18 holes on Monday and were just a few holes into round two before weather affected play. Attempting to continue on Tuesday, teams returned to the course, but were ultimately forced back into the clubhouse as the tournament was shortened to the 18 holes that had been completed.
TOURNAMENT RESULTS:
- Recording her second top fifteen finish of the year, freshman Eva Pett impressed by shooting 2-over-74 to tie for thirteenth overall individually. As a whole, her 14 total pars also tied for the tournament lead.
- Placing in the top 40 for the third straight tournament, Jade Siphomsay tied for 36th overall with a 5-over-77.
- Rounding out the scoring, Riana Mission and Toni Sottile both shot 8-over-80 to tie for 54th, while Hannah Zeman shot 11-over-83 to tie for 66th.
CATCHING UP WITH COACH DOELL:
"It was a very difficult two days in Sacramento as we dealt with several rain delays, standing waters on the green, high winds and cold temperatures. The team showed their strength of character and mental toughness by fighting hard despite these conditions. We learned a lot from the week and will continue to work hard as we prepare for the Juli Inkster. Our freshman, Eva played very solidly finishing 13th with a first round of 75. Unfortunately, the second round didn't count as she was one under par on the day before we got rained out. That shows her talent, strength and ability to go low despite conditions. I am excited to see how she takes this confidence into next week."
UP NEXT:
USF will return home to the Bay Area to co-host the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational with San Jose State at Meadow Club in Fairfax on Monday, Mar. 8 + Tuesday, Mar. 9. Live results will be available via the team's schedule page.
