Ruby Smee Named All-American at Indoor Track and Field National Championships

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Representing the USF Dons at her fourth National Championship of her career, Ruby Smee was able to finish in 14th overall place on Friday afternoon as she raced at the 2023 Indoor Track and Field National Championships at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

Competing in the 5,000 meter run, Smee was able to finish with a time of 16:41.56 as she raced against the strongest competition from across the nation earning a Second Team All-American selection for the Dons.

She is now the first ever USF student-athlete to earn back-to-back All-American selections while racing at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships.

CATCHING UP WITH COACH RILEY:
"I'm really proud of Ruby tonight. She competed much better over the first half of the race compared to last year and is getting closer to making that next step at this incredibly high level of competition. She continues to break the trail in our program, this time as the first Don to go back-to-back All-American status at the NCAA Indoors."
